  • The White Ribbon

In some cultures, white symbolizes mourning; in others it symbolizes hope and life. Our white ribbon is dedicated to the memory of all girls and women who have died needlessly in pregnancy and childbirth.

Affiliation Agreement

In some situations, groups of WRA members in particular countries have chosen to form National Alliances as a way to be more effective at the national and community levels. These alliances have historically had a loosely defined relationship with the Global Secretariat (GS). However, in response to requests for a more formal relationship, an Affiliation Agreement was developed, based on the WRA tenets of local governance and adaptability to their national context.

The National Alliance Affiliation Agreement is an agreement between the WRA Global Board of Directors and the WRA National Alliances. It outlines the roles and responsibilities of the National Alliances, the Global Board of Directors and the Global Secretariat, and provides a structure for how these important bodies of the WRA relate to one another.

UPDATE: At the WRA National Alliance Workshop in Indonesia in July 2011, a task force of National Alliance representatives was formed to collaborate with the Global Board of Directors to revise this Affiliation Agreement. This process is still underway, with a revised version of this important document anticipated to be approved by the Global Board of Directors and implemented in early 2012.
