Nigerian Government to sanction erring healthcare providers

The Federal Government has vowed to apply stiffer sanctions on any healthcare provider who does not show respect the dignity of mothers at the point of delivery.
This is against the backdrop of the way some healthcare providers harass, insult and disrespect women at the point of delivery in health facilities in different parts of the country.
Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, stated this at a media briefing to commemorate the 2014 Safe Motherhood Day in Abuja, on Thursday.
Safe motherhood day celebration is a global event that is celebrated yearly by countries of the world to focus attention on emerging issues on safe motherhood, bringing to national discuss the responsibility of different stakeholders in promoting the health of mothers and children.
