Tanzania: Service Delivery Frustrated By Lack of Health Centres

An infant gets respiratory difficulties and it will take not more than five minutes before it loses its life, that being one among many causes leading to deaths of 144 infants daily, making it 48,000 of them per annum in Tanzania.
In a similar case, a woman gets difficulties in delivery and after 2 hours of such complications, she will lose her life. The country loses 24 women every day, which makes an average of 8,000 deaths per annum, resulting from delivery complications.
Dr Neema Mamboleo who works with Plan International in Dar es Salaam says major direct causes of maternal morbidity and mortality include haemorrhage, infection, high blood pressure, unsafe abortion and obstructed labour. Read The Full Article
