White Ribbon Alliance advocates for all women’s rights to safe and dignified care – yet these rights are not always respected in the UK, especially when it comes to migrant and undocumented women who are pregnant and giving birth.

  • WRA globally advocates for all women’s rights to safe and dignified care (Respectful Maternity Care) – and this is currently lacking in the UK, especially for this most vulnerable group.

  • The rights of all pregnant women, new mothers and newborns to safe and dignified care must be respected.

  • We call for changes in government policy to remove all charges for maternity care.

White Ribbon Alliance created a "Tent of Sanctuary" at the 2016 Glastonbury Festival in order to bring a message of maternal and refugee rights to the masses. WRA brought together representatives from six other UK-based organisations and created a safe shelter within the Glastonbury grounds for festival goers to gather for conversation - and tea - about the inherent rights of women and refugees within Europe.

WRA's partner organisations at the festival included Student Action for Refugees (STAR), City of Sanctuary, Help Refugees, Regional Asylum Activism, Praxis, and GARAS. Read more about the "Tent of Sanctuary" HERE.
