WRA MOURNS THE PASSING AND CELEBRATES THE LIFE OF FELICITY MAPUHIRE UKOKO

October 18, 2017
White Ribbon Alliance members around the world are mourning the sudden death of Felicity Mapuhire Ukoko, WRA Champion, midwife and partner as lead Midwifery Services Program Director at the Wellbeing Foundation.

Felicity was a kind, passionate and unwavering advocate for maternal health. She was an early supporter of the Respectful Maternity Care movement and saw a critical opportunity to engage midwives as agents of change from Zimbabwe to the U.K.

Felicity also believed strongly in the approach of White Ribbon Alliance, recognizing you must involve women from the grassroots level to senior political leaders. She treated all with respect and dignity.

Watch here for Felicity’s views in her own words:

We mourn the loss of a great friend and colleague; the movement has lost an incredible champion for women and newborns everywhere. Our sincere condolences are with her family, her two daughters Melissa and Nasha, her husband Jonathan and her family of maternal health advocates at the Wellbeing Foundation and beyond.
